Collaboration works.

We believe in getting to the core of health and wellness roadblocks that hinder your freedom of movement. We also know that a combination of  traditional, integrative, and cutting edge approaches to your road to recovery works. So we invite you to work with us and focus on a solid foundation of osteopathic techniques that will facilitate getting you back on your feet.

“We consider your entire body, not just where it aches.”

This whole process depends on your unwavering commitment to collaborate with Pursuit – with unique, state of the art methods, we will guide you towards an active lifestyle, one that will support you for years to come.

Start-to-finish partnerships work, too.

Our core strength and what make us unique are simple: Pursuit Sports Medicine is focused on providing high-quality care including personally focused, “start-to-finish”, medically sound diagnostic and treatment services. Our patients are invited to partner with us to ensure that your own high standards and expectations are met every time, no matter what.

SERVICES

We practice three main sports medicine / osteopathic techniques which have proven to be highly successful with an overwhelming majority of our patients.

Whether you are a professional athlete with tennis elbow, a computer programmer with carpal tunnel syndrome, or an accident victim suffering from whiplash, these non-surgical pain management methods are at the core of how we contribute to and support your health and wellness.

Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (MSKUS)

This type of ultrasound is used for evaluating muscles, tendons, and ligaments associated with various joints. The advantages of using ultrasound include a more accurate diagnosis of soft tissue (as opposed to an MRI, for example), decreased costs, and the ability to perform what we call “dynamic tests” in  real-time, at  the point-of-service. MSKUS is also used for guiding injection therapies.

Regenerative Injection Techniques (RIT)

The basis of RIT involves stimulating the healing of muscle, tendon, and ligament injuries that have not improved with traditional approaches such as physical therapy.

There are two types of RIT:

  1. Platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections involve taking the patients blood, spinning it down in a centrifuge to separate platelet cells from the rest of the blood, and then injecting the platelet cells that contain growth factors into the injured area to promotes healing.
  2. Prolotherapy (proliferation injection therapy) employes the same concept as PRP but uses a different injection solution consisting of dextrose and an anesthetic. The basis of this type of therapy is to create a “controlled injury” to stimulate the body’s healing response.

Working in tandem with one or both of these types of injection therapies, patients often continue to work with their physical therapists to get the most out of their treatments.

Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM)

OMM is a treatment commonly used for patients who have strained their back either playing sport or at work, or have been involved in a “whiplash” injury from a motor vehicle accident. Also, many people who have sedentary jobs, or sit for a long time at a desk develop “knots” in the shoulder blade region. By performing OMM, a procedure designed to mobilize the restricted motion of the joint, a DO helps relieve symptoms which then aid in tapping into your body’s self-healing capabilities.

Additional Services

Additional Services include simple fracture care that does not require surgical intervention, as well as conventional injections for conditions that are genuinely  inflammatory by nature. Pursuit Sports Medicine has a solid team of medical professionals who collaborate with a multidisciplinary approach in order to offer each patient the exact treatment and care needed.
